Million Word Club

My boy who loves to stay up past bedtime sneaking at the edge of his bed reading a book made his goal! He saw the big kids getting the million word club awards and he was all about that. He has stayed up reading a book or two every couple days and taken a test on them early in the morning while his friends were playing. His hard work and determine worked. They made a goal for the first graders and couldn't believe that 4 kids have done it. This kid has read 250,000 words this year. So proud of this sweet boy!

Happy Birthday To My Baby

My forever baby turned 5. How can that be?!?! I love that he still likes to cuddle with his mama, give me double hugs, and still wants me to carry him when he is tired. Sadly I think my days of carrying him are drawing to an end or at least my back hopes so.
It is crazy that just a few years ago this sweet boy wasn't talking. His favorite thing is to talk. He loves to count. He will count to 200, count by 20's, count by 100's, and his new one is counting by 3's. He loves doing math problems and coming up with ways to make a number. Besides talking he has a love for stuffed kitties and giving them crazy names. His memory is amazing and don't even think about shortening their names. He started playing video games with his brother this year and now sleeps on the top bunk.

It's tough being 5

What a day for the new 5 year old. He started out playing so well at soccer and then somehow he ended up on the ground with cleat going into his eye. Tears on the field and an immediate bruise made it a tough sell to get him to finish the game. I felt awful on the sideline. I was torn about running up and getting him when he was laying there crying or letting him shake it off. There was no shaking it off. We rushed to his "favorite" swim lessons to find out he had a sub. Not 5 minutes into the lesson the teacher figured out he doesn't like going under water. He dunked him with his mouth wide open in protest and when he came up he then puked up all the water he choked on. At that moment one of my worst fears happened. They announced... Clear the Pool. All eyes were on Jack and then me. In attempt to make it seem better I reassured everyone it wasn't poop and it wasn't really throw up just swallowed water with a couple snotty things. I don't know if that was helpful, but it made me feel a little better clearing it up. In pretty sure we just took about 20 steps backward im swim lessons but we will see.
